Communities

Working with local people to benefit the community.

We are working closely with communities along Scotland’s east coast to minimise the impact of our work during construction of the wind farm and once it is operational.

We also want to support communities, by creating new jobs, improving education and skills; boosting the local economy; developing the local infrastructure and environment; and providing community benefit opportunities.

Community events

The NnG project team regularly attends local community events giving us the opportunity to meet the local communities and provide more information about the wind farm.

Education and skills

We work with local and regional educators to support their teaching of renewable energy, keeping pupils up to date on the NnG project and sharing details of apprenticeship opportunities.

Our project team regularly take part in education and skills events, discussing careers in renewables and encouraging pupils to explore STEM subjects.

Community Sponsorship

A community sponsorship fund is available to give local organisations the opportunity to apply for funding to support a project or event in their local area.

In recent years, NnG has supported a number of vital projects across local communities, with sponsorships and grants totalling almost £50,000 in 2023 and 2024. This includes support for The Anstruther Philharmonic Society, Berwickshire Marine Reserve and Friends of Eyemouth Forth.

You can find out more information about some of our recent community fund contributions here.

Community Benefit Fund

A community benefit fund is an annual payment that communities surrounding a wind farm receive to invest in initiatives, people or local improvements.

Designed and delivered in partnership with communities, the fund is a way of giving something back and providing ongoing support.

Upon completion of the project, a community benefit fund will be available for applications from local communities. Further information on this will be released in the coming months.
