The Opportunity
Reporting to the Asset Operations Health and Safety Manager, the role will be expected to provide Health, Safety and Environment (HSEQ) support and advice to the NnG Asset Operations team and projects, with primary focus on supporting business HSEQ needs. The role will be active in supporting the NnG Wind Farm, working closely with the Asset Operations HSEQ Team, promoting a Zero Harm HSEQ culture while establishing strong professional relationships with colleagues working at the coal face of the business.
The role will be based at the Eyemouth O&M base, they need to work flexibly to provide required services and be prepared and willing to respond to business needs and be able to assist an emergency situation.
The Role
The Offshore HSEQ Specialist will support the NnG Operations Manager in implementing the HSEQ Policies in conjunction with implementing the HSEQ Management System. They will monitor the effective implementation of appropriate HSEQ system procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in regulation and or legislation. In addition they will:
- Provide advice, direction and support with regard to maintaining compliance with HSEQ standards through the delivery of Human Performance coaching and support to all site personnel.
- Create a series of high and low level audit plans with feedback and recommendations for improved performance in conjunction with the wider EDF Renewables business in order to achieve the highest level of governance.
- Drive best in class compliance and assurance performance via agreeing, monitoring and holding accountable the progress of KPI targets with all NnG management team members, and Contract Partners.
- Establish, communicate and maintain Quality Assurance processes for the site, including technical documentation and drawings provision.
- Responsible for supporting the NnG Operations Manager in maintaining the site health and safety file.
- Influence the NnG site management team and associated Contract Partners on the delivery of organisational learning, continuous improvement and change initiatives, and competence evaluation.
- Provide support and advice across Major Component Replacements (CDM activity).
- Take part in accident / incident investigation.
- Carry out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.
- Driving continuous improvement for the NnG site by reviewing business performance from incidents, near hits, self-assessments and benchmarking, making recommendations for specific improvements feeding into the business improvement planning process
- Provide technical support to the on-site NnG team on any HSEQ related subjects.
- Carry out HSEQ awareness training as required.
- Take a lead in delivery of emergency exercises and drills, working collaboratively with the wider HSEQ team.
- To liaise with the company Occupational Health Service provider, to ensure appropriate services are provided to the NnG site based team.
- Support the sharing of best practice and lessons learnt with the wider HSEQ team.
- Contribute to the HSEQ risk management process for risks generated by the company’s activities (risk evaluation and prevention plans).
- Responsible for the safe compilation, delivery, implementation and review of site HSEQ process and procedures, working closely with the wider Asset Operations HSEQ team.
- Liaise with Contract Partners on all matters relating to HSEQ.
The Skills
- Be qualified to NEBOSH National Diploma level or equivalent and have appropriate Engineering or Renewables experience and be a member of IOSH working towards being a Chartered member.
- Demonstrable experience in HSEQ positions, preferably offshore renewable wind generation.
- GWO certificates and valid medical.
- Effective English written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to influence behavioural and culture change with emphasis on driving HSEQ operational activity.
- Ability to form effective working relationships with site staff at all levels, including the ability to influence behaviour by reasoned challenges and discussion.
- Good understanding of SSoW including WTSR (Wind Turbines Safety Rules) and HV (High Voltage) Safety Rules.
- Have competence as a trained risk assessor across the full range of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and hazard analysis systems.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
