Construction of NnG continues

The Brave Tern wind turbine installation vessel is now making regular visits to the Port of Dundee to support with the completion of the construction of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm.

This activity builds on a previous phase of work which completed at the end of 2024 when 35 turbines were fully installed, generating clean, green energy for the National Grid.

The Brave Tern is taking the remaining towers, nacelles and blades sets out to the wind farm site in the Firth of Forth, where they are being installed before the project, consisting of a total of 54 turbines, becomes fully operational this summer.

When complete, NnG will generate up to 450MW of electricity, enough to power around 375,000* homes. NnG, which is owned by EDF Renewables UK and ESB, will offset over 400,000* tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, helping Scotland and the UK move towards achieving their net zero carbon emissions targets.

*Based upon the average domestic electricity consumption per home of 3,889 kWh per the energy consumption in the UK (published July 2017) and Renewable-UK offshore wind average load factor at 37.2%.
