The delivery of two shunt reactors to the site of the NnG onshore substation is expected to take place over two consecutive weekends in June. Once installed these will help connect NnG to the National Grid.
The shunt reactors will travel from the Port of Leith with a police escort and support vehicles via the A1 before being transferred on to a trailer, and delivered to the substation site.
In order to complete these deliveries safely, a road closure will be in place to transfer the equipment from one vehicle to another.
All diversions will be signposted. Local bus services will not be affected but unfortunately due to the nature of these deliveries pedestrian and bicycle access will not be possible through the road closure. The above image is an example of the type of vehicle that will deliver the shunt reactors.
The first delivery will take place between Friday 4th June and Sunday 6th June with the next delivery expected between Saturday 12th June and Monday 14th June. The current road closure in place has been extended to Wednesday 16th June.
